Balerno

The Parish of Balerno lies in the valley of the Water of Leith at the foot of the Pentland Hills, on the south-western outskirts of Edinburgh, astride the A70 to Lanark and about 8 miles from the centre of the city.

Coming by bus?
Balerno is served by a frequent 44//N44 Lothian bus route to and from the city centre and by 63 First bus route from South Queensferry, via Gyle Shopping Centre and Heriot Watt University.

Coming Car by car?
From the North (Fife) and West (Glasgow) follow the M8 to the roundabout at Hermiston Gate; turn right at roundabout as if to join the Edinburgh City Bypass (A720) heading South, but take the immediate slip road for the exit for the A71. Turn right at A71 roundabout heading west, turn left (H-Watt Univ, Riccarton) and follow until reaching the A70 at Currie. Turn right along the A70 towards Balerno and turn left at the traffic lights into Balerno centre.
From the South follow the city bypass untill the Baberton exit. Turn right at end of slip road, right at the Wester Hailes roundabout, and right again at the traffic lights at Juniper Green onto A70, follow the A70 into Balerno and turn left at the traffic lights.

Balerno is at the top of the Water of Leith walkway.
