Balerno Village Trust (BVT) is a Development Trust which aims:
- To encourage community self help
- To set up community enterprises
- To act in partnership with all local organisations
- To be open and accountable
- It is BVT that organises the farmers market each month, initiated the micro-hydro scheme and runs the Apple and Potato Day events.
- BVT now leases the Community Centre from CEC and is implementing improvements to make the building more efficient as well as more useable by community organisations.
