On the 10th of January 2008 the adoption of a Unitary Constitution for Balerno Parish Church was approved on behalf of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. This replaced a constitution where the Kirk Session had responsibility for religious matters and an elected Board of Management had responsibility for temporal matters.
