The Mill is a welcoming place for people to gather and enjoy good quality coffee or tea and a bite to eat. The Mill Café is open from 9.00am to 2.00pm Tuesday to Friday and from 9.00am to 1.00pm on the second Saturday of each month when the Farmers’ Market is on. The Mill closes for its summer break for the first two weeks of July.
The Mill is a ‘not for profit’ cafe which uses, as far as possible, local and Fair Trade produce. Any funds raised go to support the work that takes place in the St Joseph’s Centre which is run by Balerno Parish Church for the community of Balerno.
At The Mill Cafe you can enjoy a range of teas, coffees and juices along with fresh baking. At lunch time there is a choice of two soups along with toasties and/or baked potatoes.
The Mill is more than just a café. It is an important asset for the whole community in the heart of Balerno, loved equally by its many loyal customers and the dedicated band of volunteers and staff who make it what it is.
The Mill is a member of Edinburgh Community Cafes, click to find out more.

Volunteers
Operating The Mill is a rewarding but labour intensive process; more volunteers to serve, bake, make sandwiches etc. are always welcome. If you would like to be one of the volunteers or would simply like to know more about what is involved, then please contact The Mill @StJoseph’s ( themillatstjosephs@gmail.com, or or Tel 0131 449 7245).
