Joshua 1: “After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ assistant: ‘Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the River Jordan into the land I am about to give to them – to the Israelites. I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses. Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates – all the Hittite country – to the Mediterranean Sea in the west”.

Reflection

God promised His people a new land that will be flowing with milk and honey. He led them through the desert to a land which they could call their own. He fulfilled all His promises and He walked every mile with them. In and through Jesus Christ, God promised us that He will be with us through His Word and His Holy Spirit. He is faithful and always keeps His promises. We can indeed have the hope that our current “wilderness/desert” experience will not continue indefinite. We can rejoice because God will deliver us too! We just have to wait on Him. Amen

Prayer

Lord God, give us patience to wait on you, give us the strength to hold onto you and to trust in Your everlasting mercy and the hope in our hearts to know that our “wilderness experience” will not last for ever. Give us the sight to witness YOUR goodness, hope, love and presence with us, now and forever more.

Amen
