How can we be full of joy in times of uncertainty?
The women went to the tomb to find an angel telling them that Jesus has risen. He told them to go and tell the disciples. They were afraid but obedient and hurried away to do as they were told. On the way to the disciples, Jesus appeared to them, confirming what the angel said.
The women faced an uncertain future. In those days, the witness of women was regarded as unreliable. No wonder they were afraid. But they were JOYFUL as well, because whether people believed them or not they saw the risen Jesus with their own eyes.
Sometimes we can allow fear or prejudice to take away the JOY of knowing/serving/loving Jesus in our lives. Sometimes fear can become an obstacle in our relationship with God. We should not allow fear to overcome us but focus on the JOY of the Resurrection morning. Real JOY comes from within and is not affected by any circumstances.
