The scale of the suffering caused by the Russian assault on Ukraine has surprised and appalled in equal measure. The millions of women and children being attacked and driven from their homes is horrific. The one positive to come from this is the outstanding willingness to help from all quarters of society, in the neighbouring countries in particular.
