PEOPLE IN ISOLATION
Joseph
How do you think Joseph felt when Potiphar imprisoned him? Did he feel a deep sense of injustice – unfairly confined in a place where he had never chosen to be; forgotten by society with no family to visit him; unable to exercise any control over where he was to live. Remember, Joseph did not know how his story was going to end. All he knew at that time was that God was with him – and that His love was never going to leave him. It was steadfast – constant, fixed and in place with him, wherever he was. That same love that God showed Joseph is the same love that He has for you. Take a moment to reflect on how knowing, recognising and allowing God’s steadfast love to hold you might help you at this time, a time where you may be feeling unfairly confined; deprived of life choices you would like to make and imprisoned by earthly powers greater than yours. God is with you – and his steadfast love will never leave you, no matter where you are. |
Genesis 39:20-21
“And Joseph’s master took him and put him into prison…but the Lord was with Joseph and showed him steadfast love; he gave him favour in the sight of the chief jailer.”
Prayer
Father God help me to trust in your steadfast love for me. Remind me that wherever I am, you are with me. Help me to reach out to you and feel your presence, reassurance and constancy in these times. Be with everyone so that they may feel your love at this time.
Amen
